Of the many stars to boast a signature style, no one is truer to it than Janelle Monàe. The beauty wears black and white with a red lip and a bouffant like nobody’s business. She has been embracing such a look for years now and somehow manages to bring a great deal of personality to every monochromatic outfit. But the star ditched her usual ensemble, hairstyle and makeup routine while kicking back and relaxing at home. Monàe shared a snap of herself in bed without makeup, hair free and abundant while wearing a robe. She was in rare form due to not only her stripped down look, but also because Monàe’s friends and fans say she rarely takes a selfie. Talk about a natural beauty:

When speaking on embracing her very full head of natural hair and natural self with Byrdie in 2014, Monàe encouraged other women to do the same because of how versatile and just plain ol’ awesome Black hair is. “Definitely love your hair. I might be biased, because I love my natural hair,” she said. “You can straighten it if you want, you can curl it…there are so many opportunities to explore and play with different shapes and textures. It’s in your DNA. You’ll feel more confident being your natural self!”
