It was just a year ago that singer-songwriter Jill Scott divulged to The Breakfast Club that she was in love. While she didn’t reveal much, things came to a head this weekend when Jill and her boo thang Mike Dobson made things official with a surprise wedding ceremony on Saturday (June 25).
Now a trending topic, Dobson’s friend, DJ Mars, wished the happy couple congratulations via Instagram, sharing that although the wedding date had been set months prior, he was still unaware of who Dobson’s bride-to-be was. So, like most, when the Grammy-winning chanteuse made her way down the altar, it was a major surprise. “He came to my house and gave me the deposit early, but he didn’t say he was marrying Jill Scott!!!!! Damn homie!!!!!!!!!” he captioned one of his posts.

In the footage posts by Mars, it was clear that the event was a momentous one, filled with love and moments to remember. Jill and Mike cut the cake with toothy, love drunk grins and he even surprised his wife with a performance from one of her favorite artists, Big Daddy Kane.
