Confession: I don’t really do phone cases, although the customer service rep at every cellular company I’ve ever been with and the amount of money I’ve spent replacing phones with cracked screens says I should. There’s also the look of horror on my friends’ faces and the disdain in their voices every time I pull my phone out and they remind me “You know you need a case for that” that tells me I’m playing with it when it comes to carrying around increasingly slick phones in a city where concrete jungle is more of a warning than a nickname.

And yet, most times I’m uninspired by the offerings displayed at my phone carrier’s retail stores and not motivated enough to look on ebay and score an adorable phone case for $8 like everyone around me has done at some point or another. But last week T-Mobile made me a believer again when they hosted a Summer Takeover event, revealing all of its new savvy accessories and I found myself drooling over the phone cases and doing a little digging to find other designers that create cases just as cool. Here are 4 you should look into.

It’s the New York transplant in me that has an affinity for the Case-Mate City Print Cases that rep various neighborhoods of the Big Apple as well as other major metropolitan areas like San Francisco, Chicago, LA, and Miami. If you’re the DIY type, you’ll appreciate the fact that the brand also has customizable cases exclusively through T-Mobile that you can design with over 250 stickers, studs and emojis.

I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you all that rep-your-city pride went out the window as soon as I saw the new Kate Spade phone cases. I’m a little late to the Kate Spade party, but I’ve been dying to get my hands on a tech accessory of hers for a while. I resisted the urge to drop more than one hundred bucks on a fitbit band, but my willpower may not be as strong when it comes to her new $49.99 phone cases which come dipped in or adorned in my favorite color: gold.
