Is Monogamy Really Possible?

August 17th, 2011 - By madamenoire

Your Tango cites studies that say a whopping 70 percent of married men admitted to cheating. That same stat for women was 50 to 60 percent. Ladies aren’t doing much better keeping those vows, eh? Of course no study or poll could give a 100 percent accurate percentage for such a thing and even if it could it has no bearing whether you or your spouse ever step outside of the marriage. But it does beg the question, if cheating is that common, why do we get married? Is monogamy just a pipe dream?

Would you ever consider having a long term open relationship?

Monogamy is very possible with two people who are truly MARRIED. Their is a difference between having a marriage and being married.

If he cheats, I don’t want to know about it. And it better be only once.

I’m going to be honest with everyone. Btw, I’m a gal! I do not believe cheating is a good thing at all. But men were created to be able to love and have relationships with more than just one woman. The problem is that in today’s culture, if a man wants to be intimate with another woman, he either cheats on his wife, or looks for reasons to divorce her. If you look at history, polygamy was a common practice of people with all faiths including Christianity, Judaism and many others. Just because times have changed our beliefs of certain things, it doesn’t mean our innate nature has to as well
