Want to Get Married? Stop Being Such a…

August 1st, 2011 - By madamenoire

Are you trying to get somebody to put a ring on it, girl? Well “Mad Men” writer Tracy McMillan said it’s as simple as “stop being a Beyotch.”

Well, well.

McMillan says women get in their own way when it comes to relationships because they’re angry. McMillan says, “The root of this anger can stem from anywhere starting with a woman’s relationship with her mother to how she feels about Sarah Palin. Either way, it’s unbecoming and terrifying to men.”

McMillan is no stranger to relationships or marriages for that matter. She’s been married three times and says that all men want is for a woman to be nice to them.

Points to ponder.

You can read the rest of McMillan’s advice over at YourTango.com.

Nobody ever says "B*tches be level headed"

  • Why even bother

    That's what I am thinking… Hasn't she seen Bridezillas?

Those women go OFF! And it doesn't even look or feel like it's the editing, it looks like a daily occurring. And you always seen the guy hunched over and defeated hoping that when the ring is on the finger she'll be sweet and accommodating.

If Bridezillas has taught us anything, it's always the brash, brazen and certifiably insane that get married. Meanwhile, those of us that are chill, and reserved are mistaken as weak and a threat. Sometimes the truth is in your face but the blinders are on.

  • MonicaB

    She obviously hasnt seen Bridezillas

I've seen many nice girls get played really bad.The nice girls I know DO have men but they are not being treated nicely.I'd consider myself in the middle sometimes nice and sometimes not.It depends on his behavior but I'm always treated well so…

    • STARO

ITA . . . I'll play nice until he decides to do otherwise. No need to breakout the knives without provocation! :-)

If you want to get married maybe you should ask yourself why you do? Before I invest anything; time, money, other resources, emotions, I ask what the incentives are. For some reason black women aren't encouraged to take this approach. If most of us did it would cause a economic collapse in certain business sectors. Chances are you're dealing with issues that are keeping you from having a good quality of life and marriage isn't going to make it better. Get some help.

Just find out what your motivation is for your marriage goal and your actions-see if they are even compatible.

  • Staro

Ok…why in hell would anyone put any stock in the advice of a 3-time looser???? :-)

So play nice and you’ll get a husband, right??? Wer’re in real trouble!!!!

    • Lyndon

      uh, Steve Harvey?

      • STARO

@Lyndon– Good point! However, I see Steve Harvey in a different light: Sorta like the Big Bad Wolf consulting the 3 Little Pigs on how not to get eaten! :-) The predator advising the would-be prey. :-)

U know I find this absolutely hilarious. So The Key to marriage…. or at least walking down the aisle is being nice. Finding the right man, the time, or being compatible is not a factor… no no no… just being nice. Doesn't matter who he is or anything right? Well if that is the case…. All Jump-offs and Gold Diggers should be wifed up by the close of the business day today. They absolutely dolls with the men they mess with (eye roll.) So what happened to her three marriages? She started being mean after she walked down the aisle? Shut the front door on her… like right now.

Marriage advice from a hoe that's failed THREE times? Clearly she's not winning.

  • jai

Since she’s a writer for Mad Men, why doesn’t she write some roles for african americans on the show.

    • tam

not sure why people keep asking this question but if im not mistaken in those days black people weren't allowed to work with white people yet…

      • jai

It's tv not a documentary, they can write what they want to.

  • JustAshley

Terry McMillan is the author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and married the gay dude.

Tracy McMillan is the author of this laughable article and one of the writers for "Mad Men".

How can you give me advise when you struck out three times. That’s like the blind telling me how to see don’t you thinl?

    • tam

umm, not quite . she got married 3 times (while others are failing to do it even once) so i suspect it's the STAYING MARRIED part that she hasn't quite mastered but the getting married part she has…if i do say so myself! lol

  • NEWHAIR5000

good advice.but by nature i'm a nice girl, still it doesn't kill to get a few tips.

  • JustAshley

Apparently this Tracy lady has never seen the show Bridezillas! Have you SEEN the chicks getting married on that show?!?! They're ALWAYS evil, borderline Sociopaths, while the grooms sit there like ventriloquist dummies.

Even in our everyday lives, ALL of us know at least 3 women who are psychotic and they have a "seemingly" good guy or husband by there side. People often say that the good guy finishes last, but often times the good girl does too.

For the good girls who aren't b*tches, I think it comes down to listening to your gut and being a better judge of character.

    • Lyndon

Is this a woman posting somethin like this. Very Perceptive.

FYI. I've noticed many are nice until the day we commit…then the misery begins

      • JustAshley

If she's turning into a lunatic the moment you popped out that ring- then you weren't dating long enough. LOL

I've had male friends tell me this, but in EVERY single instance, there were ALWAYS red flags during the courtship.
        *
The stories I could tell you…..LOL

    • Kayla

no the difference is , those men are push-overs.

  • Prissy

I absolutely LOVE this woman!! When I had a Twitter account .. she was definitely my favorite celebrity to follow..
