Recently, I had the opportunity to test out three products by Camille Rose Naturals: the Caramel Cowash, the Algae Renew Deep Conditioner, and the Coconut Water Leave-In Treatment. My hair care routine is pretty basic these days; my top concerns are adding moisture and reducing and/or preventing breakage. These products fit perfectly into my routine.
Caramel Cowash
I like to wash my hair often, so I figured that it may be in my best interest to try out a cowash since shampooing too frequently tends to dry my hair out. Camille Rose’s Caramel Cowash proved to be a great alternative to shampoo. First of all, it smells like a Cinnabon. No lie. However, the scent isn’t overpowering, which is always appreciated.
I had to apply quite a bit of it for the cowash to be evenly distributed throughout my hair. It didn’t produce a lot of suds or anything, but I suppose that’s to be expected when you use a cowash as opposed to shampoo. My hair felt very clean afterward, but it didn’t feel stripped, so I would say that it definitely got the job done.
Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask
Out of the three Camille Rose products I’ve tried so far, this is definitely the favorite. The scent reminds me of Laffy Taffy candy, but again, it’s not overpowering to the point where it made me gag or anything. I applied it to my hair then put on a shower cap and left it on for about twenty minutes. It left my hair feeling very soft and detangling was a breeze. For me, those are always the top two signs that a deep conditioner has done its job. I also noticed less breakage when I blow dried it. According to the product description, the blue-green algae included in the conditioners ingredients is known to reduce thinning, breaking and shedding. Since I use heat on my hair pretty frequently, any product that protects against breakage is a plus for me.
Coconut Water Leave-In Conditioner
The Coconut Water Leave-in was pretty easy to apply. It smelled amazing—obviously like coconut. It didn’t leave my hair feeling greasy, which is great, but it also didn’t make it particularly shiny either. I like a little shine, so that was a slight disappointment. In my opinion, a product like this might work best when followed up with a light oil. Overall, it was a relatively decent moisturizer.
Camille Rose products can be purchased at Target, Walmart, Ricky’s, Harmon’s, and beauty supply retailers.
