Yesterday we chatted about motherhood in Hollywood. Those who have had kids and looked fab while doing so, and those who haven’t done so yet an older age, or made the decision not to. Now it’s time to talk about everyday women who SHOULDN’T have kids at all.

Some crazy video popped up over the last couple of days of two women going at it on a crowded subway car in NYC. And while over-the-top subway videos are anything but rare on YouTube these days, this new one is disturbing because the woman who escalates the big fight is a mother. And it seemed fighting was more important than watching out for her child. Just a heads up, we didn’t post the video or link to it cause it’s against our policies, however, it’s very easy to find the 2-minute video on YouTube. But here’s the quick summary:

Supposedly pissed at the fact that she may have had a seat “stolen” from her, the mother in the video wearing blue, argues with a lady in white sitting down on the train. The mom, a little too pissed, decides after cursing and yelling back and forth, to spray mace in the direction of the woman sitting down, which amplified the situation tenfold, kicking off the brawl. While the two women went at it, subway passengers coughing from the mace moved away from the fight. Some not only looked on in disgust at the battle royale, but also in horror as the woman in blue’s child, who was sleeping in her stroller, rolled out of the subway doors and out onto the platform. Strangers went out to grab the child, as other passengers jumped to separate the two women. After they were separated, the woman in blue got off the train and tended to her child (finally pretending she cared), as the woman in white continued to fuss from inside the subway car.

Now I can totally understand the want and need to sit down, especially when you’re with child. And I can totally understand the irritation you might feel after you’ve been standing on a hot platform forever waiting for your subway to pull up. But this incident is unacceptable. While that mother was going all WWE on the train, someone, anyone, could have swiped her child in the stroller as it rolled unattended on the platform. Worst of all, she could have fell out of the stroller and been hurt. No one was arrested for the squabble, but I’m hoping the press this incident has obtained around the country will be a wake up call for both women, especially the mother. Nothing is ever that serious to act so reckless, and to spray mace at someone in a car full of people, around your child? Dead wrong. Let’s do better folks…
