Bridezilla Porsha on her Marriage, her Weight and that Lace-Front

July 21st, 2011 - By Veronica Wells

We love WE TV’s “Bridezilla”. But we came to love it even more when the show featured, the self-proclaimed “Black Barbie” Porsha. We couldn’t help but laugh at her antics. Trying to sabotage her fiancé’s bachelor party, calling her bridesmaids hairy beasts and cussing out her fiancé’s baby mama the day before the wedding were just a few of the scenarios caught on camera. Madame Noire sat down with this former Bridezilla to discuss her marriage, her fans and the lace-front seen around the world. Check out the recording of the interview as you read along.

How did you decide that you were going to do the show?

During the process of me planning, I started cutting people because nobody was helping me with the wedding at all. So I started cutting my sisters, I started cutting my mom. And they were like ‘we’re going to sign you up for “Bridezilla”. My oldest sister was like ‘let’s sign her up, let’s sign her up.’ I had no idea that they did it. And like six months later they called me and I was screaming and hollering because I couldn’t believe that the show had called me.

Why do you think your sister and mother thought that you were a Bridezilla?

I was screaming. I was hollering. I was throwing stuff. I was going off on people. Everything. They said I truly fit the characteristics of a Bridezilla.

Would you say you’re like that all the time or would you say the wedding really stressed you out and that was just a one-time thing?

As far as the shank (?) and the prank phone calls and stuff like that, that’s normal. I think the cursing and me physically attacking them I think that was all the wedding.

Were you nervous about how you were going to be portrayed on television?

I was not embarrassed at all. I’m heavyset. Whatever was going to show was going to show.

You’re still cool with your family and friends that were in your wedding?

Yeah. We went out this weekend. We all are still close.

Knowing what you put your bridesmaids through, would you be willing to endure that for someone else?

Yeah I would. It was funny!

Thoroughly embarrassed by her ridiculous and over-the-top behavior. I can imagine the insulting remarks that were made during final editing. Wake up Porsha…America was laughing AT you. They thought you were a bafoon! Get some class…please!

I was disgusted by this. I am trying to understand how anyone could possibly tolerate you, you fat lazy piece of crap. Ugh, you think size 14 is little? Enjoy the diabetes ho.

I had to turn this episode off cause this woman’s nagging voice was so freakin annoying. Good luck to her husband putting up with THAT for the rest of his life. Put down the fork fatty!

This is not about race but given the fact that we are sterotyped in the first place should be enough for Porsha to act like she got some sense. I was laughing @ her ghetto behind, but after a while I was saddened, heartbroken at how many steps back this woman took for her 15 minutes of fame. I’m sorry she will correct me, a couple months of fame because she consideres the thousands of tweets as her fans. Touched people? Please that was your goal? Come on be truthful you needed that cash the network was giving you for the wedding. Yes a wedding can be stressful believe me I got family that can act worst than you on your worst day but that won’t make me stoop to their level. Please read “Becoming a Titus 2 Woman” and I will pray for your deliverance. Let’s see how long this marriage last with you trying to control that man. If he stays I question that brain inside his head.

This girl was pitiful. Simply ignorant, classless, and acting for the camera. There was nothing entertaining about this girl. I have some advice: use the energy that u have to be “over the top” to hit the treadmill 45 minutes a day. Your attitude will change- I guarantee it. Just ridiculous!!

Greenville used to be a fabulous city, especially when the pilot-training base was there. People from all over the world lived there. Very educated people, classy, moderate way of life. Now it is a mess, like most other places.

Exactly! This show condones violence and mistreatment for the sake of entertainment. What kind of BS is that??

  • MzMel

tpe, please name some. And not on BET or VH1, but on mainstream television.

This entire show is ridiculous and does nothing to help women be taken seriously. It simply feeds the stereotype that women are overly emotional, irrational creatures who are more concerned with the wedding than the marriage. Sadly, too many are–including this sista. I not only would never treat the people I love that way, but I wouldn't tolerate being treated that way by anyone who claims to love me–stress of a wedding or not.

What an embarassment to Black Women. I couldn't watch the whole episode, it was too painful.

I must agree with the many women that believe this was the worst Bridezilla episode to date. As a black woman I found this episode repulsive. I think this was my last episode of this show. Her size is not the issue because God made us all large and small. Her attitude, foul mouth and down right ignorance where too much to handle. The fact that she denied her soon to be step child attendance at "her" wedding should have been a sign that Byron didn't need to marry her. Porsha you are disgrace to the American race but more importantly you do not represent any black woman I know. Ignorance in any color is just that ignorance. She said she probably won't be married more than a year, I don't think it will last that long. Thanks We Tv for perpetuating a stereotype!!!

I was sad for her husband to be and she was just an embarrassment . It was not her weight, it was her mouth and her behavior.

  • Maria

You are soooooooooooooooooo fat! OMG you are the size of a house!!!!! You said that your husband would be worried about your figure if you get small! what kind of figure did he mean: a tractor??????
