Health Dept. Cracks Down on Eatery Grades

(Crain’s) — The city’s Department of Health is cracking down on restaurants that are not posting their letter grades after receiving a B or C sanitary rating.  In May, the agency conducted a sweep of the restaurants it has graded since last July—when it began the new inspection program—and issued 704 violations to eateries that did not post their letter grade and 100 violations for those that did not post the grade prominently in the front of the restaurant as they are required to do. Violations can cost up to $1,000 for the first offense.
