Exclusive VIDEO: Brian McKnight on His Competition (or Lack There of) and His New Album

Brian McKnight has a new album called Just Me and he sat down with Madame Noire to chat about working with his sons (they produced his album) and why he says he doesn’t fit into today’s r & b landscape. Actually he said there really is no r & b these days, just dudes singing over hip hop beats. Womp!

    Brain Mcknight is one of those R&B males singers and writers that who can actual sing and has made a way for future male artist today. Like I say everyone has their time in the spot light. Soon Usher will be not in the spot light  and this young cat will be in it and so forth. It just how it goes. Even MJ had his time. But the key is to remain a legend!! And MJ is an example of that.

    this from the man that obviously stole Meshell N'degeocello's song to create his own … just because you're dated and tired you shouldnt be doggin the new guys doing their thing. At least they aren't blatantly ripping off other artists and calling it their own.

    the last big heyday for R&B was the 90s …since then contemporary and true R&B has been given the title of Adult Urban Contemporary. the kids nowadays dont like true R&B… they like really catchy mindless fun stuff. It is okay. thats how taste change ..they come and go.

    Jordan sorry I totally disagree with you almost!! You right music has evolved, but the music they classify as R&B nowadays is not True R&B, however its fore the most good music when people are actually singing!!! What he means by R&B is dead is that its not played on the radio anymore!!! Tank, Joe, Bobby V, Jagged Edge, Brian Mcknight, Kelly Price just to name a few all have great albums radios no longer play it!!! You have to have a Hip-Hop beat nowadays!!!!! REAL R&B WILL RETURN!!!!

    Umm…what about Miguel? His album was rnb. And so was tank. But what these guys have in common is album sells. Well lack there of! That Luther era is over and artist have moved on and have evolved.

    you dont know what r&b is…everyone says hip hop is dead so is r&b!!! neyo does try but his voice isnt good enough he is an excellent writer but B McKnight is one of the greatest

    I totally disagree with with his statements; the last efforts put out by both NeYo and Ryan Leslie are more than enough proof that real r&b is still out there
