#FitnessGoals: Watch This College Gymnast Whip, Nae Nae And Hit The Quan To A Near-Perfect Score
While everything about gymnastics is entertaining to me, I think we can all agree that the best part of it all is floor exercises. It gives the gymnasts a chance to show off their personality and freestyle both some really complicated flips, landings, twists, and turns, as well as some colorful dance moves.
And it’s the dance moves of Sophina DeJesus, a senior at UCLA and one of the star gymnasts on the school’s gymnastics team, that have everyone talking. In between hitting some impeccable landings, jumping into splits and getting her flip on, DeJesus also found a cute way to integrate everything from the Quan to the Nae Nae, the Whip and even the Harlem Shake into her routine. She absolutely killed it. And while she didn’t get the perfect score that UCLA fans and viewers of the video felt that she deserved, DeJesus did get something very close–a 9.925. And a viral video.
It makes sense that DeJesus would be a beast when it comes to her dance moves. The student was actually on a show called Hip Hop Harry that aired on TLC and Discovery Kids. While on the program, she showed off some enviable moves as a part of the Hip Hop dance crew. The show aired from 2006 to 2008, and even during that time, DeJesus was already doing some crazy backflips. Her show bio even said that she as an “aspiring gymnast.” It’s nice to see dreams come true and talented young women get to shine in such positive ways. Get ya flip on, boo!
