Want To Date A Divorcé? There’s An App For That
When it comes to dating, people have all sorts of preferences. While some women avoid men with children like the plague, others flock to single dads because they’re under the impression that these men have already proven that they are both responsible and reliable in some ways. Apparently, the same goes for divorcés. To some women, the fact that a man has been married before suggests that he doesn’t shy away from commitment and that perhaps, he just married the wrong person. There are also women who have been divorced themselves who would prefer to date someone who shares the experience. Whatever the reason, daters who would rather have a partner who has been down the aisle and back at least once can now enjoy the perks of a dating application that has been specifically designed for them.
Divorce Dating was founded by divorce attorney and star of Bravo’s “Untying the Knot,” Vikki Ziegler. The lawyer-turned-reality star was inspired to create the app after witnessing clients who struggled to get back on the horse after their marriages fell apart.
“I thought about all of my clients going through their divorces, many expressing concerns about now being alone. Even after they made the choice to start dating again, they weren’t quite sure how to calmly get started. Spoken, or unspoken, I’ve found this is a common thread for all those in the ‘divorce club,’” explains Ziegler. “With Divorce Dating, I’ve brought you an amazing dating pool of like-minded, like-experienced people also looking for friendship and love again. I understand how difficult divorce can be, and it would be my pleasure to help guide you back into the dating pool with comfort and ease.”
Upon opening a free account with Divorce Dating, users will be asked to fill out a questionnaire used to help them connect with appropriate matches. And the questions are not limited to the basic and lighthearted “Are you a morning person?” “Cats or dogs?” “What’s your favorite food?” type questions. Some have been “culled from Vikki’s experience as a divorce attorney and her understanding of why marriages don’t always work out.” Some of the more heavy questions include “Why did you divorce?” and “What did divorce teach you?”
“Divorce Dating combines a positive, mature and supportive approach with the ease and efficiency of Tinder,” press materials explain.
Divorce Dating also includes some pretty unique features such as The Wingmen, which “enables you to select up to three people to provide gut checks on your matches” (people you know, of course), and The Fabric, which offers a pictorial story of your lifestyle.”
Currently, Divorce Dating is only available on iOS devices, but developers say that it will be made available for Android users shortly.
