With the temperatures beginning to dip and snowy days in sight, hitting the town for a fun date night is becoming less and less appealing. But winter doesn’t mean that your social life has to take a hit. Whether opting for a fun night out or snuggling by a warm fire, there are a number of great winter date ideas. Let MadameNoire take you through some of our favorites.

Ice Skating

This one is probably the most glaringly obvious winter date night opportunity out there, but that didn’t stop us from including it on our list. We can think of few other things that are as sweet and romantic as skating hand-in-hand around a pristine rink with your boo. While there is certainly a high possibility of a tumble or two, being able to act like a kid again with the person you’re interested in, while enjoying the beauty of your neighborhood in the winter is certainly a night we wouldn’t want to pass up.

Wine Tasting

Is there anything more satisfying than sipping on a glass of wine when the wind is howling and there is a chill in the air? Yeah, we didn’t think so either which is why wine tasting holds a spot on our winter date list. Whether opting for a wine tasting at a local bar or restaurant, or heading out to a winery for a little drinking action, a good red is all anyone really needs to enjoy with their sweetie.

Volunteering

OK, hear us out. While volunteering might not be your knee-jerk reaction to a great winter date idea, we guarantee it can be a whole lot of fun. Pick a cause that matters to both you and your significant other and take a few hours out of your day to make a difference. Donating your time and energy will not only be personally fulfilling, but can be a heart-warming experience the two of you can share.

Snow Getaway

Winter sports aren’t for everyone, but if it’s your thing might we strongly suggest looking into a fun weekend getaway. Whether spending a long weekend at a quaint bed and breakfast in New England or hitting a snow-covered mountain in Colorado, winter can prove the perfect time for getting outdoors and getting physical with the boopiece.

Movie Night

An oldie, but goody, hitting up the local movie theater or staying at home with your latest NetFlix acquisition is always a recipe for a good cold-weather date night.

Firepit Action

OK, this one might not be doable for everyone, but if you have access to a firepit or fireplace, we really, really recommend curling in front of that thing for quality time with the bf or gf. There’s a lot to be said for a date when you’re not really doing anything other than enjoying the warmth of a fire while talking to the person that you’re totally into at the moment.

At-Home Baking

We definitely thought about cooking dinner together as a great winter date idea, but we couldn’t help but go the baking route instead. There is something terribly romantic and cute about joining forces to create a sweet treat … not to mention the fun to be had with decorating the cookies or cupcakes made. Might we suggest some sexy, inappropriate designs to spice things up a bit?

Game Night

Break out that Twister, Monopoly or even poker for a fun night-in with the sweetie that straddles sexy competitiveness with good-natured fun.

Karaoke

Let’s be honest here: There really isn’t a particular season for karaoke. Karaoke is awesome and fun anytime of the year. But in terms of indoor date ideas for when it’s cold outside, karaoke is definitely high on the list. Maybe it’s not the best one-on-one date suggestion, but if you’re looking for a fun group activity, belting it out after a few drinks is the way to go.

Staycation

When all else fails, the staycation route isn’t a bad way to go. Just make sure you’ve stocked up on good food, good wine and awesome movies to enjoy with your honey.
