Shonda Rhimes Changes Tune About Marriage, May Be Open To It In The Future
A gal’s got the right to change her mind—and Shonda Rhimes will be taking full advantage. Just two months ago, media outlets were buzzing over the bad ass TV executive’s revelation that she has no desire to get married.
“The minute I said it out loud to my family, it was fantastic,” she recalled. “Now if somebody says, ‘Are you looking for that?’ I say, ‘Nope, looking for a boyfriend, not a husband.’ And there’s a freedom to that. There’s no pressure if you’re not looking for it.”
And just that quickly, Rhimes is changing her tune—sort of. While she hasn’t confessed that she’ll definitely wed in the future, she admits that she’s open to the possibility.
“I don’t know. As I said in the book, [Year of Yes], maybe when I’m 75 or when my youngest in graduating from college, who knows,” Rhimes to People. “Maybe I’ll change my mind but right now I don’t see it.”
The showrunner explicitly shared that she’s uninterested in cohabitating with anyone other than her three kids, Harper, Emerson, and Beckett.
“I’m like, just live next door,” she said. “Live across the street!”
Considering that Rhimes is only 45 and her youngest child is just 2 years old, we’re guessing it will be a while before we see this brilliant beauty in a wedding dress—if ever. Either way, it’s all good. Happiness is all we want for our girl—whether she finds it with a husband or without one.
