Growing up, I never paid much attention to my parents’ or grandparents’ housekeeping techniques. But now that I’m a bit older, I sure wish that I had. Thankfully, my grandmother is still just a call away, and she’s a treasure trove for house hacks. Take last month for example, I noticed that some cooking grease had fallen on the floor between the stove and the refrigerator. It had begun to cake up, and no matter how hard I scrubbed and mopped the area, the grease would not come up. I eventually broke down and called my granny to see if she had any tricks.

“Easy Off,” she said without missing a beat.

Sure enough, I sprayed some Easy Off on the grease and let it sit. I came back 15 to 20 minutes later and went over the spot with a mop and drenched in warm soapy water. Within seconds, the grease was gone. Since the oven cleaner worked like magic on the floors, I began to do some research to find out if there were other ways Easy Off could be used around the home, and surprisingly, there were.
