The TSA MIGHT Not Pat Down Your Kid

June 23rd, 2011 - By madamenoire

Did you even know that Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at airports pat down kids? Well, the agency has now amended its policy. They might still pat down your child to check for explosives and such, but now their new policy is to try other less invasive measures with children before they resort to a pat down. Yay?

TSA Administrator John Pistole said the new policy should help reduce the number of kiddie pat downs. Check below for video of a six-year-old getting a pat down at a New Orleans airport earlier this year.

How would you react if a TSA agent requested to pat down your child? Do you agree with having kids get a pat down or do you think it’s excessive?

So…. a terrorist just hides bombs on kids now knowing they won't be checked? How unsafe is that? Everyone needs to be check regardless because someone out to do harm won't care if it's a kid or an elderly person. This thinking that only adults can be used as terrorists is scary.

I could see this going terribly wrong if they allow TSA agents to start patting down children. As a mother of 2 I would be pissed if they wanted to pat down my girls. I feel that they would be taking it a bit far. Just let the kids walk through the detector that should be enough.
