Marriages That Last Through Sickness (And Health)

June 22nd, 2010 - By China Okasi

You hear it at wedding ceremonies:

I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, from this day forward until death do us part.

Some couples take these marriage vows; others just…take them for granted. Whichever the case, we’ve compiled a list of couples who have remained married in sickness and in health–but especially in sickness–as the vows demand.

Michael J. Fox & Tracy Pollan

These two lovebirds tied the knot in 1988. By the early ’90s, Fox received a diagnosis for Parkinson’s disease. Not only have the two been combatting the disease as a couple, they’ve been raising four wonderful children. Now that’s exactly what those “in sickness and in health” vows mean, wouldn’t you agree?

I think that its great to stand by your mate, thats what God intended when vows were introduced. Although we all feel that it won't happen to us, in actuality it does and something that should be considered when getting married.
