Dad Accused Of Shooting Pregnant Daughter’s Boyfriend
50-year-old Alvin Knight is facing charges of aggravated battery with a firearm after he allegedly shot his pregnant stepdaughter’s 16-year-old boyfriend in the face, The Orlando Sentinel reports.
According to police, the teen showed up at the family’s Orange County home looking for the 18-year-old expectant mom when Knight and the young woman’s 20-year-old brother, who have voiced their disdain for the teen in the past, emerged wielding shotguns. An argument ensued, and in what Orange County Sherrif’s Office spokesperson Marc Petrucelli is calling an act of “teenage bravado,” the victim placed his chin at the barrels of the guns, challenging the men to shoot him. Allegedly, Knight pulled the trigger, firing two shots at the teen’s forehead. The bullets grazed his head.
An incident report says the young woman and her mother rushed the teen inside of the apartment and attempted to treat his wounds until emergency responders arrived. Miraculously, the teen survived the shooting. He was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.
Authorities say that initially, Knight tried to tell them that the shooting occurred in a bedroom of his home; however, he changed his tune once confronted with evidence and witness accounts of the incident.
Knight was released on bond Monday.
