Zoe Saldana Will Continue To Support Dolce & Gabbana After “Synthetic Children” Comment

March 22, 2015  |

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are the founders of fashion company Dolce & Gabbana and they have been catching a lot of heat for their recent comments on same-sex parenting.

In a recent interview with Panorama magazine, the couple said  “we oppose gay adoptions” and Dolce added, “You are born to be a mother and a father. Or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children.Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog.”

According to ABC 7 Online:
Singer Ricky Martin, the father of twins born by a surrogate mother, called on the pair to “wake up” in a message on Twitter, admonishing the designers that their voices were too powerful to spread hate. Gabbana said in a statement Sunday that “it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices. We do believe in freedom and love.”

While there are many celebs that have decided to boycott the company after the recent comments, Zoe Saldana is not one of them. Check out what she told E! News after being asked would she stop supporting the fashion brand:

“No! Not at all, that would be the stupidest thing if it affected my fashion choice,” Saldana told E! News exclusively at the 2015 GLAAD Media Awards when asked if she will boycott the famous brand. “People are allowed to their own opinion, however, I wouldn’t have chosen to be so public about something that’s such a personal thing.”

She added, “Obviously it caused some sensitivity, but then again if you continue to follow the news, you see they all kinda hugged it out, so why are we making a big deal about it?”

“I’m certainly not going to stop wearing Dolce, and I’m certainly not going to be refuting when they are adopting synthetic children, however they wanted to say it,” Saldana explained. “I do think things are lost in translation.”
