Iconic Black Women: 15 Life-Affirming Wisdoms

March 9, 2015  |

Women’s history month is not an ample amount of time to celebrate, acknowledge and educate the masses on the true contributions that African-American women made to not only a race of people, but the nation as a whole.  We are educators, writers, activist, poets, pilots, lawyers, scientist, actresses, doctors and mothers.  We give birth to a nation and have the responsibility to nurture it.  The amount of contributions from Africa to the Americas have been profound.  We have come a long way; however there is still work to be done.

Today we are celebrating 15 phenomenal women who have had a major impact on the freedoms we enjoy today.  Hopefully, we will continue to educate ourselves and our children year round.

“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.” – Marian Wright Edelman
