Ciara To Star In New Variety Show ‘I Can Do That’ On NBC
NBC is launching a new variety show called “I Can Do That” to debut this summer and Ciara is among the celebrity cast. The six episode show launch will challenge the celebrity cast members to go beyond their comfort zone. Marlon Wayans is set to be the show’s host and the celebrity cast will include Ciara, “Dancing With the Stars” alum Cheryl Burke; singers Joe Jonas, Nicole Scherzinger, comedian Jeff Dye; and actor Alan Ritchson.
In the unconventional variety show magicians, acrobats, stunt performers, and other artists will work with the celebrity cast members but only one can win in the end to be penned “the ultimate entertainer.” This will surely be a treat for the fans of the celebrity cast.
According to Variety:
“I Can Do That” is eyeing a summer debut. Audrey Morrisey of NBC’s “The Voice” and Matilda Zoltowski (“Dancing With the Stars”) are exec producing for Universal TV. Avi Armoza, head of Israel’s Armoza Formats, Rick Alvarez and Wayans also exec produce. The format is currently in production in 15 other countries, including Spain, Bulgaria, Italy and Brazil.
“Our viewers are going to fall in love with how these natural-born entertainers push themselves outside of their comfort zones to put on a spectacular show every week,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s prexy of alternative and latenight programming.
Said Wayans: “The cast is amazing. It’s going to be a lot of fun to work with people whose work I admire and to see them in a different light. Who wouldn’t want to work with Ciara, Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Burke? And my daughter said if I don’t do a show with a Jonas brother, don’t come home.”
NBC’s alternative slate is loading up with unscripted comedy-variety series. Neil Patrick Harris is set to host a high-profile entry in “Takeaway,” a mix of sketches, games and other goofiness.
