Willow Smith Is At It Again

January 23, 2015  |

Willow Smith is at it again. This time, she’s wearing a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier T-shirt with a pic of exposed breast-essis that she posted, but has since deleted, to her instagram account. Now why does this bother us? Well, she is only 14 years old.

But before we go getting ourselves in a tizzy, this is nothing new. Last year people got so upset by a photo posted to Instagram in which a 13-year-old Willow was lying in bed with a shirtless 20-year-old actor that the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services stepped in to conduct an investigation. And before that, it was a music video that a 12-year-old Willow released called “Summer Fling” in which she sings about kissing and ‘holding hands at midnight,’ while most kids her age would be in bed.

But therein lies the problem. We want Willow and brother Jaden to be like ‘most kids’ and clearly they are not. Most kids, at least African American ones, don’t have a dad who has been called ‘the most powerful actor in Hollywood,’ a mom who grew up in entertainment starting with her close friendship in high school with the late Tupac Shakur, and success of their own. Willow made her acting debut in “I Am Legend’ alongside her dad when she was just seven years old and released her first hit single “Whip My Hair” when she was just 9. Her brother Jaden made an impressive film debut in “The Pursuit of Happyness” with dad when he was seven-years-old and by age 12 he was holding his own next to Jackie Chan in “The Karate Kid” remake. He also raps with The Biebs and hangs out with the youngest Kardashian sisters. Wait a minute, Jenner sisters.

These kids will never be like most kids.

So the next time Willow or Jaden do something that makes you go, ‘hmmmm’ remind yourself that it is to be expected.
