When a Marriage Proposal Goes Horribly Wrong

This video is kind of hard to watch. A young man does a bended-knee proposal to his girlfriend in front of hundreds of people. Ring in hand, he says all the sugary sweet stuff you expect to hear, but his girlfriend is giving him every indication that she is not going to say “Yes.” Homegirl is literally shaking her head “No” the entire time and even says to him “Please, stand up. You can’t fix it like this.”

Not knowing the particulars of their situation, I think it was pretty brave of her to still say “No” even though she was being pressured to accept the proposal just to save face and not make a big scene. You can hear someone in the crowd say “Don’t embarrass him.”

If your sweetie proposed to you in a public way and you felt like it was not the right time, how would you handle that situation?

My first thought was he must have really messed up. Second thought is if he isn't marriage material, why is she continuing to date him? That's confusing..Its sends the wrong message. Personally he should have proposed privately especially knowing he messed up and perhaps she should have been more clear of their relationship status like " being done with him". When I saw him with the mic I would have made a b-line to door and waited for him to come over and we would have hashed it out before we both had to suffer scrutiny and humiliation.I believe there was a certain level of satisfaction in her body language when she said no, however in all fairness he obviously did something hurtful. I'd be interested to see what happened in the days or weeks to follow. We'd probably find that they are still together but hopefully not continuing to play games.

LOLLLLL, yall are really killing me with the "Love And Basketball" love moment music. BUT first of all, you proposing to your girl in a freaking club in the front of a bunch of drunk idiots, you might want to get her in a real romantic setting so she can just concentrate on YOU. Obviously this dude has cheated on her. For one don't have your fat nonsinging boy, that she most likely doesn't like anyway, sing some lame lyrics basically stating "I'm sorry for cheating". Two, you're not ready to marry anybody if you still in the clubs chasing tail. If they met in the club, they will be divorced by the club (rule of thumb). He's an idiot, if you couldn't tell while your nonsinging freind was getting the look of "SHUTUP" from her, or maybe her not giving you a welcoming ora from the get go, you deserve the outcome. THIS AINT SAD IT'S SELF EXPLANATORY! You can't make a tramp into a champ, you can't make a boy into a man. LOSE LOSE ON BOTH ENDS!

That girl is a HERO for denying a proposal.
Here's the proplem: Instead of men being heroes for proposing now women get to be heroes for denying a proposal.
