Are Video Vixens Unfairly Judged?

June 11th, 2011 - By Toya Sharee

If you found yourself captivated by the erotic tales in Karinne Steffans’ novel, “Confessions of A Video Vixen”, you may (or may not) be pleased to learn that they were more like fairy tales.  In a collection of recently released confessionals the former video model reveals that the stories which were represented as memoirs of her life as a video model and all the passionate affairs she was involved with many power players in the hip-hop industry were indeed false.

“I’m a writer. I write Shyte. The vixen doesn’t exist. You can’t tell people that
because they don’t believe that. It was all fabricated. I didn’t even name my
books. Confessions of a Video Vixen is not…I would have never named that book that. Somebody else named that book….I don’t want to be on TV. I don’t want to do any of this. This is ridiculous. I want to be anonymous.  I
want to be anonymous. Authors are supposed to be anonymous.”

Writer?  Questionable.   Drama Queen?  Definitely.

Depends on what we define as unfair judgment. Being judged for being black or a female or where you were born is one thing, because you don't choose that, being judged for your actions because you do make the choices is another. If you don't want to be judged by your actions than what you're saying is that you want the freedom of choice without the social consequence. Unfortunately the decline in social capital and culture integrity has contributed to the loss of moral accountability and all we have to show for our life of bad choices is a bag of excuses and a sign that says "Don't Judge Me!!".

They need a plan to make the transition to a long-term career. Theyre unfairlt treated bc they arent the main talent but may expect the same level of respect like the artist. Love alicia she reminds me of a girl in h.s.!!!

I feel no sympathy for Superhead or anyone who willingly degrades themself for one dollar or a million. In reality, it is the everyday Black woman who is being judged unfairly. These women are assisting in the public perception that we only serve one purpose, and that’s to satisfy men. Also, these airbrushed, injected, bleached, weaved women are creating very unrealistic aspirations for little girls, young women and what men perceive to be the ideal standard of beauty.

they are judged unfairly but they do it to themselves. they could easily take that money and do something. remember ki toi? she is doing postive things…super head wrote those books and trying to get back in the lime light.
