Felicia Smith: Dance Your Way to the Cops
A Houston teacher probably can’t sashay her way out of this one. Felicia Smith, an instructor at Stovall Middle School, is in hot water after allegedly giving a 15-year-old male student an inappropriate birthday gift—a lap dance. The February incident, which happened in front of her entire class, was allegedly recorded by one of her students and is in the hands of local authorities.
The 42 year-old claims the dance happened at the urging of a classroom full of students and lasted just under four minutes. During the routine, students say Smith placed a chair in front of the room, had the male student sit in it and proceeded to grind her behind against him, rub him and at one point got on her knees and placed her head between his legs. After the dance, Smith hugged the student and said, “I love you, baby. Happy birthday.”
The student admitted he slapped and grabbed his teacher’s behind during the routine.
According to Houston’s KNOU 11 News, parents of Smith’s students and former students of the teacher alike are disappointed with the revelation. One former student says, however, that he’s not exactly surprised by the incident, “She let students do whatever they wanted. She didn’t care.”
While Smith isn’t the first teacher to have inappropriate interactions or relations with a student, her case does come with the added shock value that the incident occurred in front of a room full of students. The carelessness and lack of good judgment Smith displayed during the impromptu routine might suggest she’s not equipped with the proper display of maturity necessary to instruct such an impressionable age group.
Smith is charged with engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student and after her first court appearance last Friday was given a $30,000 bond. She was removed from the school during official’s investigation and has yet to return.
