Wendy Williams Cries On Air: “My Son Doesn’t Like Me Anymore”

January 21, 2014  |

Wendy Williams is always talking reckless on her show, which makes it easier to forget there’s a softer side to her. In the “Hot Topics” segment of the show, the host talked about Madonna and her 13-year-old son and then started crying as she started thinking about her own relationship with her 13-year-old son.

“What I discovered this weekend is my son doesn’t like me any more,” she cried. Wendy is mother to Kevin, Jr. She continued,

“I discovered this a while ago, but the ball just got smacked home this weekend. You know, he’s all into his father. You know how 13-year-olds are–I was the same way when I was 13–but it is breaking my heart. Anyway, she’s lucky he likes her.”

Of course, she gets why Kevin Jr. and Kevin Sr. have an strong bond:
“He’s a father, he’s a buddy, they talk sneakers, they go for hair cuts, they speed off in the cars and I’m just left there feeling like, “Why you so pissed?” I’m not pissed, I’m a mom!’

Still, nobody likes to feel left out. In a Wendy After Show clip, the talk show host admits, “I know 13 is just a phase. I didn’t like my parents when I was that age either, but somehow you think you’re going to be more likable than your own parents.” Poor Wendy; she’s having a hard time letting go of her baby and watching him have man time without her.

Admit it, moms; did you go through the same thing with your sons? Tell us what you think of Wendy’s confession.

I think it’s a phase most kids go through. They don’t want to be bothered with their parents and are more focused on their friends and their own lives. My daughter is 18 and sometimes she thinks I don’t know anything. It’s heartbreaking yes, but it’s all about life.
