8 Ways To Get Fit, Even if You Hate to Exercise
It’s a new year and once that clock struck midnight, people everywhere vowed to hit the gym more – even if they hate the gym. And although getting fit is a common goal, sometimes we set unreasonable expectations which can lead to giving up when we aren’t meeting those expectations. Let’s be real: not everyone is going to love working out. Some people straight up hate it. Yet, the haters somehow find themselves with a gym membership and plans to hit the treadmill and elliptical four times a week. Why, oh why, do we do this to ourselves?
I can’t say that I love to exercise, but I’ll be honest and say that I don’t hate it either. I fall somewhere in the middle. What keeps me going, though, is the ability to challenge myself, get others to join me, and just enjoy myself. By doing these things I turn something that is potentially painful into a whole lot of fun.
I firmly believe that even someone who despises exercise can find a way to get and stay fit in the new year. If you are hoping for some miracle method that will help you shed pounds without lifting a finger, I can’t help you (sorry!). However, if you accept the fact that you have to get off your butt and move if you want to see any results, then stick with me. Moving doesn’t have to include a miserably boring and painful walk on a treadmill with 20 functions you can’t even use. I really can be fun.
Here are a few suggestions of things you can do to get and stay fit this year. Give them a try. No matter how much you hate to exercise, you might surprise yourself and realize that these things are totally doable (and effective). Here’s to a fitter and happier you in 2014!
