The Real: Fox’s New Daytime Talk Show A Big Hit?

August 4, 2013  |

Fox has introduced a new daytime talk show and the modern day answer to the popular ABC Network show, The View. Fox’s version, The Real, features a diversified panel of ladies who discuss gossip, popular culture, issues that affect women, and anything else under the sun. The cast of The Real are none other than Tamar “Get Your Life” Braxton of Braxton Family Values, Tamera Mowry-Housely of Style Networks Tia and Tamera, comedienne Loni Love, a regular on Chelsea Lately, Jeannie Mai of Style Network’s Emmy nominated How Do I Look?, and Adrienne Bailon of the girl group 3LW and Disney’s Cheetah Girls. Fox, which is not usually known for its diversity has surprised us with authentic commentary from 5 vastly different point of views.

It’s great to see a variety of women from different ethnicities have a platform to voice their opinions and perspectives to the world. Race is an issue that is often brought up among the panelist with little friction, because every panelist would be considered a minority. Each has their own set of lenses that they view the world from in respect to their own heritage and backgrounds. It feels like a bunch of girlfriends sitting around having girl talk and their actions seem unscripted and uncut for the most part. Each panelist offers a unique perspective, as they are all at different stages of  life. Tune in as they express their views on being newly married, motherhood, being single, and the dating scene. On the other side of the spectrum, The View’s panelist were older and more conservative – (see: boring). If you are looking for a fun, youthful, and energetic way to get some girl talk, check out The Real. Bonus: If you are in the audience you may receive an awesome prize. In one episode, they gave away a Louis Vuitton purse!
