10 Black TV Weddings We Couldn’t Stop Talking About

TV weddings have everything you aren’t looking for in your own nuptials: the drama, the comedy, the random celebrity appearances disguised as a character’s family member or friend. But I guess that’s what makes them all the more entertaining. And in all the TV shows our people have starred in, there have been a number of trips to the chapel that have left us laughing, in wonderment, tearing up in happiness and sometimes, just plain ‘ol confused, thanks to spectacles leading up to, during, and after the ceremonies. Here are the top 10 classic TV show weddings we waited seasons to see happen, and seasons later, or better yet, years later, we still can’t stop talking about. And hey, if this gives you some wedding ideas to look into or some wedding dont’s to look out for for this wedding season, that’s all good too!

    I love Whitley and Dwayne, that was the best EVER!!!!!!!! Baby please!!!! On a side note isn't it sad that we have to go back 10 and 20 years to talk about black love and weddings on TV. It seems like things are going backwards and it's so sad. With a black president and Oprah being the most powerful woman on television you would think there would be more black love/ families represented. Speaking of Oprah a black couple won a million dollar wedding on her show a few yeas ago and it was beautiful!!! At least she tried :)

    Best wedding on TV of all time, black, white, whatever. I've already given my brother permission to yell "blessed are those that ask the questions, brotha" at my wedding. LOL!

    Dwayne and Whitley's is the best wedding hands down. I don't know how many times I've seen this clip, but I smiled even bigger just to see… even though it wasn't real, but to see Ron had Dwayne Dwayne's back. Also, Reuben and Thelma's was super cute too. The older I get, the more I love Sherman Hemsley. He would always bust out a cute dance!

    Yes I'm going along with everybody and saying A Different World. I love Dwayne and Whitley. This was my show, lol it played a huge part of me going to an HBCU my first year. I'm so mad they only have season 1( the season no one liked) on dvd. They need to put 2-6! Some other good ones are: On New York Undercover right before Eddie dies him and Nina get married. The Parkers had a good one. After years of chasing the professor Nikki finally got him, and Kim singing at "At Last" was beautiful.

    I agree with everyone else that has posted, the wedding of Dwayne and Whitley on "A Different World" was/is by far the BEST TV-WEDDING EVER!!!! This was my favorite show. I was devastated when they cancelled it. I had many favorite episodes, but this one is my favorite along with the time they all went on vacation and those drug dealers came after their stuff.
