Ford Recalls Minivans Globally
Today, Reuters announced Ford is recalling 230,000 minivans globally because of a corrosion issue that could prevent the third row of seats from locking into place. Though there are no reported injuries, the company is issuing the recall for Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans from model years 2004 through 2007 in Washington, D.C. and states in the salt-belt. These states include Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
To address the issue, Ford dealers will install a new hardware to lock the third-row seats into place while also adding wheel wells to prevent further corrosion from salt.
