Do’s and Dont’s for the Perfect Valentine’s Day

February 8, 2013  |

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and depending on your point of view, Valentine’s Day is either the most romantic day of the year or just another Hallmark holiday. Whether you’re on team V-Day or can’t wait for the dreaded day to be over, Cupid is here to save the day with our list of Valentine’s Day dos and don’ts for the perfect day of love!

DO buy lingerie.
Whether you’re single or boo’d up, some of the cutest bra and panty sets arrive in stores just in time for the day of love. They’ll make you feel great even if you don’t have anyone to show them to.

DON’T expect your boo to love Valentine’s Day as much as you do.
Even the most thoughtful guy isn’t going to bow down at your feet. Look at the day as a celebration of the love you’ve shared and will continue to share.

DON’T give chain store chocolates.
Nothing says “Hey, I forgot” like a bar of Dove chocolate with a bow slapped on top. Get personal with customized confections.

DO skip the Bridget Jones’ Diary marathon.
Hit the town with your girls for a guaranteed night of fun. Let them know friendship is just as important to you as romance.

DON’T contact your ex.
Trust us, no good can come of this. Love yourself and move forward.

DO plan a date outside the box.
Experiences are often the best gifts. Try something new or something that reminds you of butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling of courtship.

DO make sex a priority.
Raising children can put a damper on intimacy. Use this as a day to say “no” to stress and make an effort to recapture of the insane passion of the first stages of your relationship.Start slow; who knows where cuddling and soft kisses can lead?

DO find a unique way to say “I love you.”
That’s what the day is for, after all.

Don’t plan to break up with your partner.
This is bad relationship karma. Don’t let it come back to haunt you. Be kind enough to wait until the holiday is over; better yet, be honest and do it now.

DON’T hand out the same old Hallmark greeting card.
Create something personal and unique. A few words from the heart go a long way.
