Battling Your Belly Fat
The most asked question I get on my Operation Fit Chick page is about my stomach. How did I shed the dreadful belly fat. For most of you, it will be a lot of hard work and for others, the belly fat may melt right away.
There’s one rule you need to know: A flat stomach is made in the kitchen. Period.
What you put in your belly makes your belly. It takes more than just crunches. Crunches are good and will give you great abdominal muscles, but great abdominal muscles under layers of fat! It takes regular exercise AND healthy eating – healthy eating being at the top of the list. Accept that there are no short cuts to weight loss. Once I conquered that obstacle, I was able to conquer the bulge and my mini muffin tops. So what should you do? Incorporate these few things and you will be on your way to a flatter stomach!
1. Water, water, water! Water is your friend. I am so surprised at how many people tell me that they do not drink water. Water is essential for weight loss and it’s simply a much healthier choice than the sodas, juices and energy drinks most people consume. I drink half my body weight in ounces every day. If you weigh 200lbs, that’s 100 ounces of water a day. Raise your glasses up!
2. Get off the couch. You have to move your body. Whether its running, walking, planking or any kind of cardio, you cannot lose belly fat while everyone is lapping around you on the couch.
3. Sugar is not your friend. Cut out the Little Debbie’s and Krispy Kreme Donuts and watch the fat disappear. I’m a huge junk food person. My guilty pleasures are the cakes, apple pies and honey buns. I consciously made a decision to cut some of that out and I saw results in the first 2 weeks.
4. Add more fruits and vegetables. Like I said above, a flat stomach is made in the kitchen. I hated fruits and veggies. They were my enemy. I could go a week or two without seeing a fruit. Now I do not go a day without seeing them. Your plate should be colorful.
Mommy, you are already stressed with everything else you do. These 4 little steps are easy and stress free – Water, walking/running, reduced sugar intake and increased fruits and vegetables can make you a winner in the battle of the bulge.
