Glam Mom: Go From Drab to D@#n with This Holiday Tip

November 10, 2012  |

The holidays can be a tad bit overwhelming. I’m irritated because we just made it through Halloween, yet Christmas decorations and gift boxes trail the isles of my local Target.  Nonetheless, the holidays are here and I plan on handling them with all the grace and elegance I have left, while juggling a pregnancy and my six year old little girl.

One of my favorite holiday past times are the parties. Not just because of the food, but the fellowship, the array of tacky Christmas sweaters, and watching everyone get tipsy off of the spiked egg nog.

Due to my pregnancy, I feel more pressure than ever to step up my holiday style! How will I do that you ask? It’s simple! Forget the face full of MAC! Put ya fresh face forward and rock that sexy red lip! Bump what you heard ladies, women of all skin tones can rock this “Old Hollywood” classic!

Donned by DIVA’s such as Victoria’s Secret new and naughty addition Chanel Iman, rock star Rih Rih, and sultry actress Kerry Washington, this added pop of color is sure to give you that added spice while bringing in the New Year.

To ensure you arrive on the on the scene (not looking like an extra from Cirque Du Soleil) check out these amazing steps courtesy of

“1. Women with fair skin, look great in lipstick shades such as nudes in a slightly apricot shade, pinks and light corals. Stay away from browns, which will appear blah.

2. Those with a medium skin tone can go a bit darker. You’ll look great in roses, mauves and berries. Skip the bright reds and consider a deep burgundy instead.

3. Deep plum, chocolate or red is fabulous with dark skin. According to the editors of Allure’s “Confessions of a Beauty Editor,” women with dark skin “can go in one of two directions: toward brown or purple. Think caramel or walnut for day, and plum or wine for evening.”
