Engagement Ring Advice for Guys

September 10, 2012  |

Christmas is a few months away. Maybe your boyfriend or the father of your children is planning to pop the big question. He has exhausted the dating scene, and barely wants to step foot in a lounge since he has met you. He only hangs with his homeboys on occasion, and has given you free access to his Facebook and cell phone. It’s clear…it’s all about you – forever. On that note, he is ready to make it official…too bad he doesn’t know where to start. I remember recently chatting with my boyfriend about rings and he was totally clueless about the process. After stumbling upon this article, I just wanted to shout “READ THIS!” Instead I kept it in. I didn’t want to tell him how to buy a ring. I just wanted him to figure it out. Fast forward. I can’t blame him. How many times in a man’s life is he shopping for a ring anyhow? I just thought about half the men out there that just need a tip or two or three. Leave this post open on your computer, so he can walk by and sneak a peek.

Engagement Ring Advice for Guys

Hit the flip: According to our jewelry experts over at About.com:

Before we get started, can I be honest with you? The best way to buy her an engagement ring she’ll love is to let her pick it out herself. She’ll wear this ring every day. It must feel good on her finger and it must suit her lifestyle. Sometimes it takes trying on many, many diamond shapes and setting styles to determine which ring is truly “best.” But you still want to go it alone, don’t you? Maybe because you want to surprise her with the engagement ring, or because you don’t want her to be involved with pricing and payment issues. That’s fine–if you put some thought into it you can buy an engagement ring that she’ll love almost as much as she loves you.
