Rihanna Becomes RIAA’s First Artist To Cross 100 Million Song Certifications
Today, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced Rihanna has surpassed more than 100 million gold and platinum song certifications. This significant news means Rihanna has reached the number one spot on RIAA’s list of artists with the most digital single awards. In a press release, Cary Sherman who serves as the Chairman & CEO of RIAA stated:
“Gold & Platinum is the industry’s premier way to celebrate achievement in the marketplace. We’ve given awards to artists for nearly 60 years, but it’s rare that we have the opportunity to recognize a milestone like the one Rihanna has reached. Congratulations to Rihanna! She has not only surpassed RIAA’s one-hundred million mark, but also is the first artist to do so. It’s a historic feat and a testament to an extraordinary career.”
The new honor encompasses 37 hit songs such as, “We Found Love” which earned a nine times multi-platinum award, along with “Stay,” “What’s My Name” and “Only Girl (In The World),” a six-time multi-platinum award winner a few. Her latest songs, “BBHMM” and “FourFiveSeconds,” have also been included in her platinum hits catalog.
This award comes on the anniversary of Rihanna’s grandmother’s death and we are sure Gran Gran Dolly is more than happy for Rih!
