Mary J Blige to Portray Nina Simone

Yup there’s yet another biopic in the works. This time Mary J Blige has confirmed she is still preparing to play Nina Simone in a biopic “Nina”. (It’s a working title.) The film will be based on Simone’s own book “I Put a Spell on You”. The book focuses on the relationship with her assistant Clifton Henderson.

Nina was such a fascinating woman. The movie should be interesting if all the pieces fall into place.

    Oh yeah Angel, Kimberly Elise would be a fine choice. I forgot about kim. That's my girl. She truely is a wonderful actress. I love me some Mary J but I think Kim would be a better choice. She can lipsing her songs.

    My opinion – I think Kimberly Elise would be a better actress for this role. Especially since she favors Ms. Simone so much, because truly, when I first saw the pictures above, I thought that was a picture of Kimberly Elise. She's a fabulous actress and very talented. Not knocking Mary, because I am a fan of hers as well…more for her music though.

    I don't approve. Nina Simone's voice is jazzy (have you heard "I Put A Spell On You"?) Her voice is totally different than Mary. I like Mary's music , but I don't think that would be a great match up. Some jazz/blues singer should play Nina.
