2015 is off to an amazing start for Tia Mowry and hubby Cory Hardrict. In addition to recently celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary, Cory has a new movie in theaters and Tia has a new cooking show, “Tia Mowry at Home,” which airs tonight on The Cooking Channel. Of course, success often comes with scandal and a couple of weeks ago, the duo found themselves at the center of some rather ugly rumors.

As you may recall, it was reported that there had been some tension between Mowry and Hardrict’s Brotherly Love co-star Keke Palmer. The whispers began after Mowry reportedly posted and deleted a tweet slamming an unspecified person for talking about liking a married man during an interview. Many assumed that the tweet was referencing Palmer, who on the night of the premiere, shared that she used to have a crush on Hardrict as a child. From there, the speculation quickly swirled out of control.

We were able to catch up with Tia today in New York City at a lovely Mother’s Day brunch that she hosted in partnership with Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds Lustre. During the event, she opened up to us about her marriage, the rumors, and her new culinary endeavor.

On why she loves being married to Cory:

“He’s such man of God. He has faith beyond this world and I learned that from him. His faith is unstoppable. He has faith in his career. He has faith in his marriage. He has faith in his son. And it goes a long way. He’s extremely optimistic and he believes in himself. I love that about him. When I was auditioning for ‘The Game’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know if I can do this,’ and he was like, ‘Yeah, you can. We’re going to sit here and we’re going to work on this script and we’re going to do this to the best of our ability.’ He’s just so supportive of me, of my life. Then also what I love about him is that if I’m ever in a bind or going through something personally, you know, insecurities that I have, he has such great answers. He’s a problem solver. But his problem-solving is realistic. He’s great.”

On rumors of a feud with Keke Palmer:

“What’s really sad is that there’s no truth to that whatsoever. What’s really sad is that I guess there was a picture of me holding her wrist. What’s so sad is that we were uplifting each other in that moment. That’s what was so disgusting about the situation. She was telling me how much she looked up to me. I was telling her how proud I am of her. I was telling her about my book ‘Twintuition.’ She actually came over to our house and I gave her a signed copy of the book. It’s just really sad that we can’t have my husband do well or Keke do well without people having to make up disgusting rumors. There’s no truth to anything.”

On what inspired “Tia Mowry at Home”:

“For me, everything that I do, I always like to do it if I’m passionate about it. I’m passionate about cooking. I’m passionate about healthy eating. I’m passionate about inspiring other women. So it came out of being an inspiration to other women. Like, if I can do it, you can do it. We all know now that there’s so much junk in food, packaged foods, fast foods, all of that. We all know that there are these correlations with health—whether it’s eczema, migraines, autism, and fertility issues. So if I can help inspire other women to make time or to change their perspectives on healthy eating and finding the time to make meals at home with their families, that’s all the better.
