Black Hairstyles 2011! While bad weaves are almost as common in the entertainment industry as they are on the block, some of our favorite black  celebrities have covet worthy tresses every time they step out. Lacking hair inspiration? Check out these black women celebs known for their fly hairstyles! They do everything from short hair cuts to long hair weave creations to bouncy natural hair. Perhaps you can tap in to your inner Nia Long or Jill Scott this spring!

1) Janet Jackson

From her Rhythm Nation days on through her starring role in “Why Did I Get Married Too”?, Miss Jackson was the undisputed  champion of weaves. Few women have managed to pull off such different (the red Velvet Rope curls, anyone?), yet flawless hair transformations. Now, as she travels the world on her sold-out “Number Ones” tour, Janet is rocking a Hot close cropped ‘do. Short hairstyles don’t work on everyone, but she rocks it! Give this woman her props!

2) Gabrielle Union

Long hair, don’t care! While Gabby doesn’t take many risks with her hair, she has found a look that works for her and her ‘do rarely disappoints. D Wade’s boo has made flowing, brown tresses her signature and has yet to be caught out there looking any less than elegant. Union’s main style is perfect for black women who want a little Hollywood glam, without looking like a pageant contestant or drag queen.

3) Solange Knowles

A new face of Carol’s Daughter (and the only one who seems to fit with the brand….#justsaying), Knowles has come a long way since the days of the Kool-Aid red weave that she rocked when she made her musical debut in 2003. Her au natural curly afro is absolutely gorgeous and accentuates her striking features. She sometimes does long braids too. Solo once sang “I’ll never be picture perfect Beyonce”…but we think she’s pretty darn photo worthy herself!

4) Nia Long

Nia is another G.O.A.T. when it comes to the fresh short hairstyles. She’s given us pixie cuts and shoulder skimming styles and they’ve been nothing but lovely. What makes Long’s look so appealing (aside from the fact that she’s, you know, drop dead gorgeous) is that it’s accessible. She’s got ’round the way girl appeal and we absolutely love her for that!

5) Rihanna

While we in no way, shape or form suggest that you run out and imitate the Bajan sensation’s current look, we have to admit it: we are a sucker for Rih Rih’s candy-colored ‘do. Her hair transformation has been exciting and while we can’t co-sign every single look, we give it up to Rihanna for keeping it fierce every time she steps out. While she wasn’t the first to do the short hairstyle with one side shaved, that was her signature until recently. She worked that look in a way that few women could. Rihanna’s hairstyles keep us guessing and we can’t wait to see what she’ll serve up next!
