Lil Wayne Teams Up With ‘Weed Finding’ App To Drop New Video
Lil Wayne just made a creative marketing move. The rapper and marijuana legalization advocate teamed up with a popular “weed finding” app called Weedmaps to release a new single, “Hollyweezy,” from his mixtape “Sorry for the Wait 2.” Wayne released the track’s video yesterday on that site, reports TMZ.
Weedmaps is an app that locates nearby medical marijuana dispensaries.
According to a press release, the Grammy Award winning rapper, who is still involved in a nasty court battle with his label, Cash Money, and Birdman, showed the video on Weedmaps.com for 4 hours and 20 minutes before releasing it worldwide. The kickoff time was 4:20 pm EST on April 20th.
Weedmaps’ CEO Justin Hartfield said, “Weedmaps is proud to partner with a legendary rapper like Lil Wayne. Throughout his career, Lil Wayne has been a champion of marijuana culture. Not only does Lil Wayne freely admit marijuana helps his creative process, he is also a longtime advocate of marijuana legalization.”
Weedmaps was founded in 2007 and currently has more than 750,000 registered users.
Hip hop is busy establishing relationships with a variety of companies in the marijuana industry. Snoop Lion just invested in a marijuana delivery company called Eaze.
