Chevy Chase’s ancestors first arrived in Manhattan back in the early 1600s! He grew up, a fourteenth-generation New Yorker, with his father, a prominent book editor and magazine writer, and his mother, the adopted child of Cornelius Vanderbilt Crane, heir to Crane Plumbing.
