    I've settled for absolutely everything since the day I was born.

    That happens when dear ol' dad is effectively "absent in the next room", and mother dearest is (literally!) too busy scooping dog dirt to notice she popped out three kids.

    One takes what one can get, in education, so-called "friends", meals, clothing, and so on. This in a relatively affluent suburb, not in some poverty-ridden urban ghetto.

    Naturally, when the that specious desire arises for affection, companionship, or even simple conversation, one tolerates whatever third-stringer, bottom-of-the-barrel happens along.
