If you’ve been wondering where Tweet has been, you don’t have to wait too much longer. Tweet sat down with the men of The Skorpion Show to discuss her new album, working with Missy Elliot and Timbaland again and begin embraced as a reemerging R&B artist.

But the the interview got much more interesting when she was joined by her daughter Tashawna. The two talked about mending their relationship, Tweet and her grandson and Tashawna’s own music career.

Check out the highlights and the full thing below.

So where is this album?

It’s coming. I just signed with someone–it’s official too. But I can’t make the official announcement yet, I’m so mad. It’s a big label. It’s for real though.

Who are you planning to work with?

I took it back to who it worked with the first time. The same producers, Missy and Tim…

You’re really working with Missy and Timbaland?

Uhh huh. That’s my sister.

Was it hard to convince Missy and Tim to work with you again?

No… We’re family. We’ve known each other for forever. Tim even called me and said he needed me to do some stuff on my record. So I was like yeah. And Missy always calls and says ‘We got to do this. Let’s do some records together.’ She’s always still pushing me.

What else can listeners and fans expect?

It’s still pages out of my diary. So you’ll still know what I’ve been through. The ups and downs, the in and out of love. But I think you’ll hear a lot of maturity in my voice. With the first album Southern Hummingbird, I was kind of timid and afraid to be–even though it was a great album. I was still like ‘I don’t know.’ Insecure. And then the second album I had to compromise and put different types of songs that weren’t me on there.

Is she afraid to come out again as an R&B artists again? Are you afraid the album won’t catch one to young fans?

No because that’s not my demographics anyway. I just want anybody that loves and appreciate real music. I’m not out to try to get a Grammy anyway. I don’t care. My mission is to contribute to the fact that we have artists out there who still love good music.

What is it like being a grandmother?

It’s the best thing in the world. I never knew love like that. I said that before but I never knew what it meant. I can feel what it means now. I can have a terrible day and that little boy will walk in the room. Everything is lifted. It’s a love that you’ll never–unless you go through or see it.

Tweet’s daughter Tashawna, who will be 25 this year, joined the interview. And they asked her if she was going into the music industry?

Yes. I’m an artist. (In 2013, she signed to RCA.)

Gospel?

I don’t want to put myself in a box. Definitely, the message is  inspirational. I’m definitely not doing an “Oops.”  No shade…

Tweet: But what did “Oops” do for you?

When can we expect something from you?

I want to release a record next month if she’s not shading me. She’s momager so sometimes she just doesn’t know how to chill and be a mom.

Tweet: I know what the business is like. So it’s got to be right or don’t come at all. That’s how I feel.

What advice do you give to your daughter, if she takes it…

Tweet: She thinks she knows it all.

Tashawna: I don’t think I know it all. It’s just two strong personalities. We’re the same sign… We’re more so like sisters that don’t get along, the dynamic of our relationship.

If people didn’t know you, I don’t think they would think you were mother and daughter…

Tashawna: She gets on my nerves. She needs to dress more her age. I think she’s beat, she’s always beat. But I’m like mom can you put on a nice little conference suit or something, a little first lady skirt.

That’s a grandmother

Tashawna: She needs to dress like it.

Tweet: I’m not doing that.

I think that she kind of wants to do it for herself. But girl, Tweet is your mom.

I just started, honestly, embracing this is my mom, so what.

You had some resentment toward your mom. How did y’all get past that?

Tweet: We’re still working on it. It’s a process.

I don’t know exactly what caused the rift between these two. But we do know that Tashawna was raised by her grandparents for years. And when Tweet returned, with no money and no job, she was  very depressed. She turned to drinking and even had suicidal thoughts. You can gain more insight from this joint interview they did together below.

You telling her how to raise Aden?

Tashwana: It’s so terrible! I’ll say ‘Sit down!’ ‘No, what he got to sit down for?’ And I’m like Girl! let me discipline. If I hit him, she’ll hit me. I’m like girl, stop!

Tweet: I’m sorry.
