Is Your Kid THAT Kid?

April 14th, 2011 - By LaShaun Williams

As single, childless women many of us made those damning comments, “My child will never do that,” “She needs to do something with him,” and “Somebody shut that baby up.” Being outsiders we didn’t understand the trials and frustrations that come with rearing children. Then that special day arrived and our worlds changed forever. Even better, we now get to experience many of the wonderful things to which we previously muttered “never.”

In the name of unconditional love, some mothers see their children through rose-colored lenses and misjudge the severity of their poor behavior. Often quick to justify or place the blame onto others, many mothers are the parents of that kid, the misbehaving child they once frowned upon.

Karma is well, um, you know.

Just in case you don’t know, here are a few signs your kid is that kid and some tips for turning the behavior around:

Time out is why kids act the way they do now days. No respect or home training. My son is 7 and I have NO problems out of him because he understands that I am the grown up and he will get that butt beat. I wish he would tell me or any other grown up no or ask me why. I got my tail smacked more than a few times and I turned out to be a stable, law biding citizen.

same here im latino so my parents never had the time for our nonsense, we got spanked and knew our actions would lead to that, i had friends who were 'grounded' and let me tell you they enjoyed acting a fool and badass knowing the only punishment would be 30min of time out, heck i would have liked a time out instead of a slap on the hand of behind eveytime i acted up and strangely my parents wooped me but today as an adult i have never harbored any 'hate' or anger towards my parents….
