Wedding season is on its way, but to be perfectly honest as far back as I can remember, I have never felt a passion for picking out bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Weddings always seemed like more of a hassle than they were worth to me, and I’d be just as happy professing my love in a cheesy Las Vegas chapel in front of a 7-11 clerk who moonlights as a minister. The first wedding I witnessed that I felt was truly an example of why the tears and blown tempers were all worth it was the fictional union of Martin Payne and Gina Waters on the series “Martin”. The couple escaped bickering family relatives in order to elope in an elegant, intimate ceremony on the beach. It was beautiful, heart-warming and most importantly it was real (well as real as thirty-minute sitcom can be) because Gina, Martin, Pam and Tommy could just as well have been any one of the viewers who watched along with their close circle of friends.
Although I can’t actually see myself shelling out what could be a down payment on a house on what some could call an extravagant party that acts as a public display to commemorate the love between two people, a girl can dream, can’t she? That’s exactly the reason why we love celebrity weddings. Celebrity weddings are proof that $40,000 per day rented castles, $100,000 Christian Lacroix gowns and catering by Wolfgang Puck himself can’t promise a bond that will last a lifetime. What it can guarantee will last a lifetime is pictures of how for one day it was all about you: the fabulous, fierce and gorgeous wedding gown (and the bride who gave it its moment to shine). Take a look at our list of gowns who took the three-tiered cake:
