Netflix Service Will Let Parents Drop The New Year’s Ball A Little Early To Get The Kiddies To Bed

December 30, 2014  |

Thanks to Netflix, parents can send their children to bed earlier than midnight and still see cheer 2015 with help from a streaming service that will launch an on-demand, three-minute New Year’s countdown. The celebration will be hosted by King Julien, a lemur from Netflix’s animated All Hail King Julien series.

In a Netflix statement, King Julien shared: “Move over, Ryan Seacrest, I’ve got my very own on-demand countdown party on Netflix.”

His show, All Hail King Julien, was launched on December 19 in order to build a younger audience base. Children have become an important part of the business strategy, with the company’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos telling CNN that 70 children’s shows were streamed on Netflix in October by two million subscribers.

As for the countdown, it’s available now for download. Netflix, parents salute you!
