Former NBA Player Accuses Moniece Slaughter Of Bank Fraud: “She’s Crazy”
It looks like another man is claiming to have been victimized by “Love & Hip Hollywood” star Moniece Slaughter. According to TMZ Sports, former NBA player Joe Smith, who says that he is Slaughter’s ex-boyfriend, alleges that she stole $109,000 from him between October 2011 and March 2012.
According to Smith’s version of events, Slaughter wrote nine unauthorized checks from his checkbook, totaling to the $109,000 he claims she stole. He alleges that all nine checks were written to a Timothy Clayton Carr. Smith insists that he does not know Carr and that he definitely didn’t write the checks. In June of 2012, officers were able to speak with Carr, who told them that he was Slaughter’s friend and that he was doing her a favor by cashing the checks for her. He also told cops that he wasn’t made aware that something was wrong until Smith canceled the ninth check. Interestingly, Carr claims that Slaughter promised to pay him back for the canceled check, but she disappeared when the time came for them to meet up.
When officers were able to catch up with Slaughter, she told them that Smith knew about all of the checks that she wrote and that he even signed them personally. She also claimed that his only reason for cancelling the last check is because their romance went awry and they broke up. When Smith heard the story Slaughter told police, he simply responded:
Smith says that he communicated to officers that he wanted to press charges, but nearly 2 1/2 years later, the case remains unresolved. He also says that he’s pretty frustrated because he feels that the police have been giving him the runaround.
