Exclusive First Look: Tamera Mowry-Housley Wishes She Wasn’t A Twin?

November 14, 2014  |

Kicking off Hot Seat Week, a segment where each host on “The Real” will be undergoing a lie detector test to reveal some interesting secrets, Tamera Mowry-Housley confessed to something rather surprising. The former child actor admitted that sometimes she wishes she wasn’t a twin. Check out what she said during the segment:

Tamar Braxton: Tamera, do you ever wish you were not a twin?

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yes.

Tamar Braxton: Really?

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yeah… Sometimes you just want to be your own person, you know? People see you as two people and I had to fight for a really really long time, along with my sister, to tell people that, “You know, we’re individuals.”

Watch as Tamera gets super emotional about the struggle of being a twin and make sure you tune into “The Real” on Monday, November 17 to watch the full segment. What do you think of her reveal?

Perhaps people would be better reminded of the whole “ugly twin-pretty twin” thing, and then they’d understand why it sometimes doesn’t pay to have someone with a similar face. The comparison (I can imagine, since I’m not a twin) is constant. But I have a cousin with similar features, and people compare us as well. Or any siblings relatively close in age. Have some compassion. She’s human, not just a celebrity. And moreso, a human who grew up in the limelight, and had her awkward phase riddled with “Tia is the pretty one.” That must have been scarring.

If you watched their show, it’s obvious she doesn’t like being a twin. This is not a surprise..

  • James

It is no big deal being a twin when women having quads babies all the time.

  • honeybee808

no surprise. on their reality show, at times, tamera came off as kind of cold to tia. she demoted a pregnant tia from maid of honor to bridesmaid. and then after she had her own baby, after having a serious discussion about who they would want to raise their children if one of them should pass away, tia immediately choose tamera, while tamera hesitated and needed time to “think” about it.

Wow, now that’s interesting. Maybe there is some deep seeded resentment going on, about what? Who knows….. Although they are identical in looks, they clearly are different in character.

I see why she chose their parents, though. They’re less busy and would be able to raise her son. Also Tia was on pregnancy brain so she was forgetful sometimes. Could Tamera have gone about that differently without being cold, yes. Also Tia talked down to her a lot and I’ve been in Tamera’s position where I’ve been talked down to w/ no voice of my own.

    • Trisha_B

She didn’t make Tia a bridesmaid. Tamara made her matron of honor b/c Tia was not helping her at all w/ the wedding, so her best friend stepped up

      • Ariel

Yep, Tia was not really there for her. If I was Tamera, I would have done the same thing. Sister or not, I wouldn’t want somebody to hold that kind of position in my wedding, knowing they wouldn’t be there.

        • Trisha_B

Me too! Tia is sometimes mean to Tamera & was not understanding during Tameras wedding planning. I was not mad at Tameras decision

  • Trisha_B

She says that, but she’s constantly bringing up that shes a twin lol. She’s always bringing up Tia on The Real. But from their reality show, Tamera relies on Tia a lot & thinks of Tia w/ decisions she makes. But Tia doesn’t do the same

You’re right about her bringing up Tia during many conversations on The Real. I wish, for at least one week, she would go without saying, “I’m a twin,” “I’m a mom,” or “Adam this or that…” I like her well enough, just tired of everything she says being prefaced with one of those three statements.

      • Trisha_B

Agree! Lol like we know all this already, you don’t have to keep saying it lol

Tia and Tamera may be over emotional sometimes but they are great role models for young girls. Real talk..

  • Rosebayrose

I love Tia and Tamera. I miss the reality show they had together, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I still watch reruns of Sister Sister. However, it is cool to see them do their own things. I like Tamera on The Real, and Instant Mom with Tia is hilarious.

the chick cries for everything. damn she is sooo annoying, being a twin did a lot for you, being a twin is the reason you here now. she needs to just shut up. I knew there was a reason why I liked Tia better. damn

    • marshefen

She wasn’t crying about it. She’s just saying she’s had times where she wished she wasn’t a twin. People are constantly comparing their careers. She had 7 years where she wasn’t acting, while Tia had a hit show. I’m sure she was happy for Tia, but imagine everyone asking you why you aren’t as successful as your twin. Then Tia got married first and had a baby first. That can be a lot of pressure for anyone.

  • Ebony

I am a twin and LOVE being a twin! But I can see why Tamera would feel that way. Because of their fame, the comparison is constant and outright brutal at times. You can tell she has been deeply affected by that. I struggled with that too for a while but overcame that and I am now very grateful for my twin.

I wish i had an identical twin only to see how i really look without relying on mirrors.. Lol
