Imagine being on vacation and randomly finding out that you’re 9 months pregnant.

That’s what happened to Kate Hudson during her dream vacation in Europe, according to the Herald Sun. The 22-year-old says that she felt “a little odd” and decided to take a pregnancy test. To her surprise, the test came back positive. After seeing a physician in Spain, Hudson was told that she was 33 weeks pregnant.

“Any belly I had I thought was just a food baby from all the eating I’d done in Europe over two months,” she said.

Hudson ended her vacation and caught a flight back home to Australia. Once there, she was informed by an OB/GYN that she’s actually 38 weeks along. Doctors revealed that she was in fact overdue and that her labor had to be induced. Initially, Hudson says that both she and her boyfriend of 18 months Aaron were pretty thrown off after finding out that she was pregnant.

“I totally freaked out. I thought she said 13 weeks – not 33! No way was I ready to have a baby. I’m only 22. No job, and no money. And no time to prepare. I was so scared for how Aaron would react. He was so supportive, but with me being in Prague and him in Melbourne it was so hard. We needed to comfort each other. He sort of freaked out thinking, ‘How will I support you both?’ but to everyone else he put on a brave face. We just had to roll with it. The baby was coming and coming fast, so I just had to prepare and get back home. I didn’t have time to process it until the flight home, where I basically cried for the 22 hours,” she told The Young Mummy.

And of course, the thought that all of the partying that she did while in Europe made her concerned about the health of the baby.

“I was scared because I didn’t know if the baby was healthy. Obviously having not known for so long, I was exercising heaps, jumping off cliffs, riding bikes, drinking alcohol and eating anything and everything,” she said.

Ironically, she revealed that she had just stopped taking birth control pills one month before taking the pregnancy test. Just days after learning the shocking news, Hudson gave birth to a baby boy, who is now eight weeks old. Thankfully, doctors say that he’s just fine.

“I honestly don’t know if I’m doing it right or wrong. But he’s a happy baby and gaining weight, so I must be doing something right.”

As for the lack of symptoms, Hudson’s physicians told her that she has a tilted uterus, which is why she hadn’t experienced typical pregnancy symptoms or a baby bump. While this is quite a bizarre experience, Hudson says that she’s simply “rolling with the punches.”

“I have a beautiful healthy baby boy, my relationship with Aaron is stronger than ever, so I can’t complain too much. I’ve just gotta’ roll with it and make the most of it. Mason’s here and I’m going to try to be the best parent I can be for him. Am I scared for the future? Yes.”

Sheesh!
