Rapper Rhymefest Will Compete in a Runoff

He’s won a Grammy and now a spot in the runoff race for a Chicago City Council seat. Rapper Che “Rhymefest” Smith had 20 percent of the vote, behind incumbent Alderman Willi Cochran who had 46 percent. Since neither candidate garnered 50 percent of the vote, the two candidates will meet again in a runoff.

The long-time Chicago resident said he would pick up support from candidates who did not make the runoff, adding to the backing he received from the powerful Chicago Teachers’ Union. His campaing’s focus has been bringing green business to the 20th Ward of the city, reports ABC News.
