Pat and Gina Neely might have looked like they were very much in love, but according to TMZ, the couple really struggled to get along once their reality show, “Down Home With The Neelys,” became a big hit on the Food Network. After 11 seasons of cooking up recipes and showing quite a bit of PDA in the kitchen for the cameras, they both decided that they just couldn’t do it anymore.

Sources close to the estranged couple tell TMZ that the Neelys had issues they were trying to work on even before their reality show started in 2008, but once it started having major success, it drove Pat and Gina even further apart. The couple reportedly were battling for the spotlight once they became stars. Now that their marriage is set to end, Pat believes that he will be able to go it alone and have success since he’s the master chef and HIS family owns the recipes the couple has been cooking up for all these years. But don’t count out Gina, because the source tells TMZ that she thinks will have success doing her own thing too because she’s the “bigger TV personality.”

In case you missed it, the couple announced their split last week after 20 years of marriage and a surprising two years of separation (Gina filed). They issued a joint statement:

Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us. As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends. Together we have built a strong brand as The Neely’s . Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures. We ask for your prayers as we go through this transition and honor our request for privacy at this time.

According to TMZ, the two will also have to keep it at least a little civil because they are co-owners of the Neely’s Barbecue Parlor in New York City. But aside from that, it looks like every man (and woman) for themselves…
